Astro-Therapy:

Ever since the dawn of time man has turned his gaze heavenwards and pondered over the connection between the starry firmament and his life here on Earth. Long before the Chaldeans started to inscribe their observations on clay tablets, human beings had been learning about the movements of the planets, attributing meaning to the signs of the Zodiac and discovering the analogies between the stars and planets on nature and themselves.

Astrology states that nature and humanity is governed by forces and cycles of unfolding energy patterns. There is a major cosmic law called 'The Law of Correspondence', which is also expressed by the phrase: 'As Above - So Below'. This Law proclaims that every unit of life lives, moves and has its being within the body of a greater unit of life of which the smaller is a reflection. The essential correspondence is one of Space-Time synchronisation.

“The conscious mind does not embrace the totality of a man, for this totality consists only partly of his conscious contents...                                                       In this totality the conscious mind is contained like a smaller circle within a larger one.”

C.G. Jung

Some five hundred years ago a divide took place among the worlds of science, religion and art, which had hitherto been understood as One.

Thus Astrology was forced into the “underground” and much has happened along the way to tarnish its image. Today, regrettably, Astrology is perhaps not well understood by the general public, and is often put down as trivial or superstitious. But, in fact, it contains many insightful and practical observations about human nature, and that wisdom has been handed down for thousands of years. Therefore, it can be said to represent the oldest form of Psychology.

There are several different types of Astrology and this comprises very different ways of working with it. Here, Astrology is considered as a Sacred Science, a symbolic expression of cosmic interrelations – a beautifully poetic language of the Heavens.

"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Rachel holds a Diploma in Psychological Astrology and has studied astrological symbolism for about two decades. Psychological Astrology does not work with predictions, yet it is a wonderful tool to illuminate and help you understand the cycles of your life. It can shed light on what is going on in times of confusion, and is particularly helpful during changing circumstances when re-orientation is needed. The interpretation of your birth chart is a journey towards increasing self-awareness. You can learn to make sense of your innate contradictions and to gain understanding of your predispositions.

Astrology can help you examine your experiences from a different perspective in order to view the bigger picture. Circumstances can be understood as expressions of your inner dynamic. Many of us identify with behaviour patterns that were adapted to our early environment. Your birth chart reveals the real you, rather than the conditioned you. It's a great way of learning about what makes you tick and discovering the sometimes unknow potential you have available.

Please note: In order to calculate your individual birth chart, Rachel will need to know your date, time and place of birth.

Please also note that this approach is not like a chart "reading" where you are the passive recipient of copious amounts of (however fascinating) information. The healing use of astrology is a two-way process like any other form of therapy, and involves your active participation.
